JJ was one of three debutants on the opening day of the 2021 season. Always known in club cricket as a wicket-taking bowler, the Pembroke CC man duly lived up to that reputation, with his first delivery in Lightning colours removing Warriors skipper Andy McBrine to swing the momentum in Leinster's favour.
Whilst he only bowled two overs on what was a seamer-friendly track, that sort of impact is exactly what makes JJ such a dangerous asset in the Lightning ranks. He is also an excellent ring fielder, and made his presence felt with a remarkable catch diving forward at mid-wicket to see Shane Getkate back to the pavilion.
