How the league was won - Knockharley 3 and Castleknock 3 made the early running. Castleknock won their first four matches and Knockharley being 5-2 on June 22nd. Both teams faltered though, allowing North Kildare 3 (who won seven from eight after June 7th), Laois 3 (who won eight of their last nine after losing three of their first four) and eventual winners Dundrum 3 (who had a virtually identical record to Laois - winning their last nine after losing three of their first four) to overtake them.
How dreams turned to nightmares - Rush 4 had a tough season off the pitch, giving four walkovers. There was little chance of overcoming the penalties associated with walkovers, and they were destined to finish bottom after that. Sandyford 3 and Dundalk 2 tussled over who was to finish 7th. The meetings between the two teams at the end of the season settled the score - Sandyford won the encounter in Dundalk, before the Louth side couldn't raise a team late in September for the return fixture. Dundalk's season has started promisingly with two wins from the first three, before a run of five losses. The only team not mentioned has been Adamstown 4 who had a very mid-table kind of season. Their best run was three in a row in June/July, but they lost their last three as well.
Heroes with the willow - Only two players scored over 200 runs at an average of over 50. Daire O'Neill of North Kildare only played the second half of the season, but found Division 13 to his liking, scorring 347 runs at 86.75. An honourable mention as well to Harry Shivmangal of Knockharley who scored 262 runs at 87.33. Muhammed Navid (formerly with Railway Union, now with Merrion) was the Division 13 career highest run scorer with 744 runs. The honour has now been grabbed by Adam Ellison of Rush, who has scored 827 runs at 25.06 since the start of 2011.
Hell for leather - There weren't too many stand out bowlers in Division 13, which is another way of saying everyone bowled quite well. Three passed the 20 wicket barrier - Mahbabur Rahman (Knockharley) with 25 at 10.32, Umer Akram (Laois) with 22 at 11.55 and Sajesh Sudarsanan (Dundrum) with 20 at 11.60. There is a familiar name at the top of the all time wicket taking charts though. Not content with looking down at every one else from the top of the run scoring list, Adam Ellison has extended his lead in the 2011-present Division 13 bowling stakes with 55 wickets at 22.09. His Rush team mate, Oisin Marsh is in second place with 47 wickets.
Days to remember - Rush have had plenty of mentions so far, and here comes another one. As discussed, the fourth had a season to forget. But one day stood out amongst all others. They hosted Dundalk 2 on April 27th, and scored 283-5 the highest score in Division 13 this year. Irfan Haidry was the architect of the innings, scoring 112, the joint highest score in the division, alongside 112 by Daire O'Neill also against Dundalk 2
Stat you may have missed - Only one person scored a century as well as taking five wickets in an innings. Step forward Amit Sharma of Dundrum. After a slow start to the season (his first nine innings brought 50 runs), he finished well, with 26*, 105 (vs Sandyford on August 31), 50 and 25. The bowling performance was even later - 6-24 vs Adamstown 4 on September 18
