The 2018 Cricket Leinster Development league started in late April when The Hills hosted Mullingar in the Hills' glorious second ground - the Margaretstown Cricket Ground.
The league is in its second season, and is aimed as introducing girls and boys to adult cricket in a relaxed and enjoyable environment, with the added aim of attracting back adults into the game who may not be interested in the hustle and bustle of league cricket.
55 matches will take place across the province this summer, with teams from Adamstown, Bagenalstown/Carlow, Clondalkin, Leinster, Malahide, Mullingar, North Kildare, Phoenix, Railway Union/Terenure, Rush and The Hills taking part, with the bulk of the games being across Jun, July and August.
In last months match, the Hills batted first and made 169 for 4 in their 30 overs. Alan Courell retired on 50 as did Joe Clinton on 37. Both were well supported by Ivan Ryan on 23 and Adam Clinton on 22.
In reply Mullingar made 93 for 7 in 30 overs. The best Batting was Bilal Baloch on 37. The Hills used 8 bowlers and wickets were evenly spread out with James Ryan taking 2 for 11. Highlight for The Hills was the fact you had 4 father/son combinations, Joe and Adam Clinton, Mark and Jacob Clinton, Alan and James Courell and Paul and Sam Smyth, ably assisted by brothers James and Ivan Ryan and Thomas Stack.
The next match in the league is this Sunday, May 27th, when North Kildare will welcome Rush to The Maws
