The individual award winners for the 2024 edition of the 2nd XI Premier League can today be confirmed by Cricket Leinster, with the five trophies won by players from five different clubs this season.
Bookman Cup (Batting in Second XI Premier League)
Greg Hollins (Pembroke) takes home the Bookman Cup for 2024, scoring 440 runs at an average of 44 in his 13 innings, he finishes well clear on average of Merrion’s Sean Stanton, and his Pembroke team-mate, Dan Murray.
Oulton Cup (Bowling in the Second XI Premier League)
Jonathan Tall of Malahide is the winner of the Oulten Cup. He took 29 wickets at an average of 15.97, which is an excellent return for his first season in Malahide. His closest challenger was Aviral Shukla of Leinster, followed by Danny Forkin of Merrion, with spinners dominating the top of the charts.
Cullen Cup (Wicket-Keeping in the Second XI Premier League)
The joint winners of this trophy are Karthikeyan Jawahar of Leinster and Sam Murphy of Pembroke. They won the Cullen Cup, finishing with 14 dismissals, one clear of Mark Dwyer of the Hills in third. Jawahar won the league with Leinster, and Murphy won the Tillain with Pembroke, which tops off an excellent season for both.
Webster Trophy (Second XI Premier League All-Rounder)
Sean Stanton (Merrion) is the winner of the Webster Cup for 2024 after a very strong season in which his Merrion side finished second. Individually, he scored 462 runs and took 23 wickets to end on 922 points. His teammate Danny Forkin was his closest competitor with 812 points, while Yash Balasubramanium (Clontarf) rounds off the top three with 719 points.
Second XI Premier League Fielding Award.
Ashad Farooqi wins the fielding cup for the 2024 season, taking ten catches overall. He edges out his Hills teammate Dakshin Eashwar, who finishes with nine catches.
