Cricket Leinster is delighted to announce its complete, centrally-made fixture list for the 2021 season.
This includes all Open, Women’s and Youth Competitions in what looks set to be our busiest season ever with a huge number of matches and over 3,000 players already registered.
In line with Government guidelines, the first round of Open Competitions fixtures commence on Bank Holiday Monday, 7th June. As expected, the season will open with the respective T20 competitions being played right across the board, with a full programme of Finals then taking place in late July – many of which will be live-streamed, all of which will be covered on our website and social media.
The Women’s competitions begin the following evening (Tuesday 8th June) with league fixtures in Sprint Coatings Divisions 2 and 4 as well as the first round of the Sprint Coatings Senior Cup. Sprint Coatings Division 3 starts on Wednesday 9th June followed by a full round of Sprint Coatings Division 1 fixtures on Thursday 10th June rounding off a bumper opening week in the Women’s calendar.
With four T20 leagues, four T20 cups and the return of the Pilkington Plate as a stand-alone 50 over Women’s Competition, this is set to be a great year for women’s cricket. The Pilkington Plate Grand Final on 4th September will be live streamed.
On the Youth side, there are over 20 competitions planned between June and August which will involve over 700 matches and a number of last year’s competitions have been upgraded to a home and away format to provide as much cricket as possible for the more than 1,300 players who have registered for Youth cricket with their respective clubs thus far.
A two-weekend bonanza of Finals is set to bookmark the middle of the season – with all thirteen of the T20 Cup Competition Finals – 9 Open and 4 Women’s – to be contested between the 23rd July and 1st August. The Sportshub Senior League Cup Final will take place on Saturday 24th July at Pembroke CC, Sydney Parade and will be live streamed with full commentary throughout the day.
As per previous years, many of the T20 Finals will take place as double-headers – so for example, the Ed Sports Whelan Cup and Russell Court Trophy Finals will also both take place on Saturday 24th July across the road in Railway Union CC, Park Avenue (which is the traditional home for these Finals).
Equally, the LHK Insurance YM Salver and Tillain Cup Finals will both take place on Saturday 31st July.
The Intermediate Cup and Junior Cup are both being sponsored by GS Cricket Ireland this year for the first time whilst the Minor Cup is being sponsored by Just Property Limited. Corkagh Park will once again host the Adamstown Cup Final on Sunday 25th July.
The League Programmes (full length matches) begin for the Open Competitions on 17th July with a full round of fixtures in the Premier League and Championship slated for that date. These competitions will be rounded off with an end of season Final to decide the winner of each League – with that team earning the right to be promoted to the next Division in place of the team that finishes bottom in the Division below. The OCC will obviously have the final say on competition structures and associated divisions for 2022 which is for another day!
The Premier League Final is scheduled to take place on Saturday 11th September in Sydney Parade whilst the Championship decider will take place the following day, on Sunday 12th September.
The season is set to come to a close with the culmination of Open Divisions 3 and 4 on 18th – the 32nd and 33rd Finals of a packed 2021 season.
Full details on competition regulations will be published separately by the relevant Committees (Open, Women’s and Youth).
