There's nothing better than a bit of hyperbole to get an article started, so here goes. Never before has so little action on the cricket field had such momentus impact on these rankings.
The weekend of the 12th brought little in the way of cricketing action to the table, as the normal festivities were replaced by thunder storms and generally miserable weather. That dearth of cricketing action (two North West games were the only action recorded, as Brigade beat Doneman on the 9th, and Coleraine beat Eglinton on the 12th) let the Leinster clubs steal the limelight, and they did so in record breaking style.
Although the six qualifying Leinster games all went the way of the favourites (wins for Merrion, YMCA, The Hills, Clontarf, Leinster and Malahide), it meant there were major changes at the top of the table. With Waringstown dormant again, the wins for YMCA and Clontard let them move up to 2nd and 3rd, giving Leinster the top three teams for the first time ever.
It needs to be said though that the gap between the 2nd, 3rd and 4th is minute, and Waringstown could well move up again next week. The county Down club have had their season ruined by weather, and have so far only had ten matches recorded this year, with wins over Muckamore, North Down, Terenure, Fox Lodge, Lisburn, Derriaghy, CIYMS, Lurgan, Instonians and a loss to CSN. That's not much cricket from the four big competitions.
But for now it is Leinster that rule the roost. Changes further down the table were minimal, with the main move being Coleraine, moving back above Donemana as the North West's number two club.
Tomorrow we bring the table bang up to date, with the Leinster and North West Cup finals being included, as well as lots of league action from the NCU
