Since our last look at the All Ireland rankings, there has been lots of cricket - the first round of the Bob Kerr Irish Senior Cup and National Cup, league cricket in Leinster, and the first round of the Senior Cups in the NCU and North West. But despite all that, with some great cricket, and big upsets.....not a great deal has changed.
Waringstown remain kings, and are only one of three teams in the top 10 (the others being Coleraine and The Hills) to be unbeaten this season. The rest of the top five have all fluffed their lines in one way or another. Instonians had a great win over Clontarf in the Irish Senior Cup, only to lose to Muckamore in the Senior Cup. Tarf may have won twice in the league, but that loss to Instonians will haunt them all season, whilst Merrion have won one and lost one in the league - a state of affairs that is a bit better than YMCA, who have two league losses to go with a 10 wicket win over North Down in the Irish Senior Cup.
All that means is that there has been no change this week in the top five. The other big moves around the top 10 see The Hills up to 8th, and neighbours North County down to 11th.
There have been plenty of surprises in the last 10 days. Muckamore's win over Instonians leaves them unchanged at 26th, but with a much smaller gap between them and Fox Lodge and Lisburn who are just above them. Dublin Univesity's win over Cork County also sees them unchanged, although Cork County drop one to 22nd. Also in Leinster, Malahide were surprised by North Kildare, and dropped one place to 17th in the process. North Kildare are getting close to qualifying for the table and it will be interesting to see whether they can break into the top 40.
Phoenix, Fox Lodge (impressive winners over Leinster in the Irish Senior Cup) and Rush have all jumped a couple of places after useful starts to the season.
Hopefully the weather holds for the weekend, as there are six Irish Senior Cup replays, nine National cup games and a host of league and cup action. Enjoy.
