Baggies’ School Blitz bigger than EVER!
Bagenalstown CC's (County Carlow) inter schools competition returned for it's second year, with two separate blitz days needed (25th and 26th of May) due to the growth of the competition!
It was the culmination of the club's school sessions, which is to introduce cricket to local children between 7-9 years of age. The initiative started in 2012. This year, the club brought cricket to 7 local schools in the area, including St. Mary's NS, Nurney and St. Brigid's NS, where over 210 children played the game for the first time.
On Day 1, Ballinkillen NS retained their crown with a SUPER OVER in the decider, while on Day 2, Newtown-Dunleckney NS won their competition over Garryhill NS.
A big thank you the schools for participating in the initiative, and to all of the Baggies' members for assisting in the school sessions, along with helping on the two big days.
Cricket in Bagenalstown has taken a major step in it's development in 2015, with a 3rd men's team in the Open Competition, a women's team, along with many new faces playing in our youth structure. The future continues to be strong down in McGrath Park.
