A big thank you to all the clubs who attended the Women's Branch Autumn Meeting on Thursday evening and contributed to a positive review of the 2012 season and generated ideas for improvements for 2013. Among the key changes agreed for 2013:
There was unanimous support for the pink ball for all competitions for 2013. Trialled in this year’s senior cup finals, it proved a huge success with players, scorers, umpires as well as spectators. It is also an easier logistical move for clubs over the white ball as the pink ball can be used with a white sight screen.
Clubs agreed a move towards coloured clothing. As a first step towards this, women’s teams can wear coloured tops with whites and white pads.
The new Pilkington Pro40 competition will replace the 50 Over Competition to act as a faster paced version of the game and a stepping stone between 20-over and representative cricket.
The next month will see a total review of the league- and cup- structures to ensure we are best placed for the season ahead and we will update on progress in due course.
