Cricket Leinster is delighted to announce that Blue Insurance has come on-board as sponsor of the Leprechaun Cup for 2017. This is a major boost for our flag-ship Primary Schools Competition which has been expanding year-on-year since its launch back in 2007.
Ciaran Mulligan, Managing Director of Blue Insurance, spoke about his delight at partnering with Cricket Leinster for the Leprechaun Cup - 'Blue Insurance is pleased to be supporting the growth and development of cricket at grass-roots level. We are delighted that our sponsorship will assist in encouraging more primary school children to take up the sport as cricket looks to become a mainstream sport here in Ireland'.
Philip Smith, General Manager for Cricket Leinster commented as follows - 'From a Cricket Leinster perspective, we are delighted to have Blue Insurance on-board as sponsor for our key Primary Schools competition - this sponsorship will direct contribute to the growth in playing numbers and participation throughout the province'.
This week sees the start of the 2017 competition which is our highly successful cricket development competition for Primary schools. This year’s tournament will involve 42 schools - many of who were introduced to the game through coaching visits delivered over the winter months.
The competition continues to offer boys and girls their first experience of ‘hard ball’ cricket with games being played throughout the months of April, May and June. The competition has been running now for 11 years and has served as an excellent programme for attracting schoolchildren to the game.
All confirmed fixtures in the coming weeks will be listed on the 'Fixtures' section of the Cricket Leinster website with summary scores following in the 'Results' section.
