Saturday 18th April, 1:00 in Sydney Parade (home of Pembroke Cricket Club) will see the inaugural “Bowl-Out” competition as a curtain raiser to the new Pembroke season.
This event will see the deployment of “Zinger” bails as seen in the Big Bash and the recent World Cup, so there can be no doubt as to who has hit the stumps.
Teams of 5 will compete in a knock out event (although it may also be a round-robin preliminary depending on how many teams turn up). There will be the main competition, but also a plate competition for those teams knocked out in the first round. This is to ensure that everyone gets more than one bite at the cherry. So get your team of 5 together and show Leinster umpires just how often that ball would have hit the stumps.... or not!!
Teams may be entered on the day with registration available from midday in the Clubhouse. Teams may be mixed with youths and adults of both sexes and varying levels of ability. An underage team may be drawn against Senior 1 players or the vintage Ladies and who knows who will come out on top.
Pembroke will have the BBQ running during the day and of course the bar will be open.
It is hoped that the day will see weather similar to this week and that a good crowd will take advantage of this opportunity for a new competition in Leinster Cricket.
