Not alone did a fine 86* by Damian Poder produce an excellent win for Merrion over Pembroke in the first round of the Leinster Senior Cup on Saturday last, it also saw him reach the target of 3,000 runs in Senior Cricket. He had started the season with 2,929 and just needed two matches and 2 innings to get there. He now has 3,030 runs in 212 matches and 171 innings, at an average of 22.61. His highest score is 93 and in all he has 10 fifties.
This weekend saw Andre Botha making his debut for Terenure. He did so with two centuries, ironically perhaps both against North County, his previous club. More interesting perhaps is that these two hundreds have now brought him level on 23 hundreds with Jeremy Bray and Alf Masood, as those who have scored the most hundreds in Leinster Senior Cricket. Who is going to be the first to reach 24 and create a new record.
