When I sent out Averages for Divisions 1 and 2 last week, I mentioned that Dara Armstrong was level with Charlie Kavanagh on 508 dismissals, the largest total achieved by any wicket keeper. Dara did not stay level for long. In the course of the Cup match for North County against Terenure last Saturday, he achieved the one dismissal necessary for him to become the sole holder of the record for most dismissals in Leinster Cricket history. In a career which started in 1991 and has now lasted over 21 years, Dara has dismissed 433 batsmen caught behind and 76 stumped, giving him a total of 509 dismissals.
In congratulating Dara on reaching this target we must remember his two predecessors, who each achieved over 500 dismissals also. They were Harry Hill, who achieved 502, and Charlie Kavanagh, with 508.
