It is with great sadness that we have heard of the passing of Cecil Medcalf, a lifelong cricket-man who served his beloved YMCA CC tirelessly over many decades.
To many of us involved with club cricket over the years, Cecil is synonymous with YM both as a dedicated volunteer and a Past President.
Cecil also served Cricket Leinster with great distinction as Chair of the CL Junior Branch from 1996 until 2010 having taken over from Dickie Spence who had passed away suddenly.
In later years, many will have enjoyed his company as he watched matches at all levels, mostly on the benches at Claremont Road.
It is very fitting that the club dedicated the Claremont Road end of their ground after him a couple of years ago - a nice tribute to a true club man.
Our sympathies to all his family and his many friends at YMCA CC and throughout the club cricket community.
Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.
