it has been a while since we last wrote about the scoring of centuries in Leinster Senior Cricket [see https://www.cricketleinster.ie/archives/articles/record-of-centuries-in-leinster-senior-competitions]. The article in 2013 was prompted by the record number of centuries scored in a season [46]. That record is still intact, but only just. There were 45 centuries in total last season [figures do not include T20s or the Irish Senior Cup]. Overall the number of centuries per year continues to rise with an average of 34 per season over the past four years. The upward movement in the seasonal average can be seen from the chart below.
Three clubs have passed the 100 Centuries mark over their history - Phoenix, Leinster and Clontarf. Merrion, YMCA and Pembroke look like reaching this landmark soon.
There has been some movement in the highest scores in an innings. That list is now made up entirely of double-centuries, Charles Wakim joining the table following his 210 for Clontarf against Rush in 2016.
There has been a jump in the number of players who have scored ten or more centuries - this stood at 18 in 2013 and had grown to 23 by the end of last season. The generational breakdown is striking with only three players from the early years - FG Connell [Leinster / Civil Service], TM McVeagh [Trinity / Phoenix] and JP Ganly [Trinity / Phoenix / Leinster]. In total there are 415 century makers. Jeremy Bray joins Anrea Botha at the top of the table. with 25 centuries each

Figures for the fastest 100 are a little more difficult to confirm. What we have from 2013 - John Mooney 102* for North County against YMCA in Claremont in 2011 [50b], Terry Richardson 106 for North County II against Rush at Inch [56b] also in 2011 and Reinhart Strydom [100*], at the time playing for North County against YMCA in Claremount [59b]. If there has been any faster since then - and this can only be ascertained directly from Total Cricket Scorer - let me know and I will correct.
