The OCC has now considered the results of the survey I conducted regarding the length of Senior 2 Cup matches. The survey did not produce any clear consensus. First preferences indicated an equal number of clubs in favour of 60 overs a side, 50 overs a side and 40 overs a side respectively.
The committee however accepted some of the comments made that moving to 60 overs a side, entailing morning starts and provision of lunch would put an unnecessary strain on clubs. Although first prefences did not give a clear picture, it was clear when all prefeences were taken into account that there was a majority favouring a reduction in overs. Accordingly it was decided that for 2013 the Senior 2 Cup competition would be the same as the rest of the cups other than the Senior Cup, i.e. 40 overs a side. Please advise your players accordingly.
Although no question on coloured clothing was included some clubs suggested its use for this competition while others indicated they would be opposed to this. Again the committee felt that it would put an unnecessary strain on clubs at this level. Therefore no change on this issue is to occur.
