Sport Ireland has introduced a new mandatory Safeguarding Self-Assessment Framework for all NGB’s across the Republic of Ireland. This must be implemented by March 2022 and we are working with Cricket Ireland to ensure that this happens across Leinster.
The main focus and purpose of the Audit framework is to assist and support each sport to strengthen the way that children and young people are made safer. The Audit Framework is easy to use, simple to understand and intended to support NGB’s and the wider sporting community.
We are all responsible for ensuring that this Audit is completed by all affiliated clubs by March 2022.
It is a self-assessment process for clubs and will look at seven key areas:
1) Leadership and key roles
2) Safeguarding training
3) Child Safeguarding Policies and Procedures
4) Additional Policies, Procedures and Guidance
5) Volunteer Recruitment & Support
6) Behaviour and Equality
7) Communication
To assist clubs, our plan is to hold workshops in collaboration with Cricket Ireland on the steps required to complete the audit.
These workshops should be attended by the Club Children’s Officer(s), Designated Liaison Person and Chairperson.
It is mandatory that all clubs are represented at one of these sessions as completion of the self-assessment process is a prerequisite for participation in CL competitions commencing April 2022.
