As you probably know, all remaining provisions of the Children First Act 2015 commenced on 11th December last and must be complied with by 11th March 2018.
These include the provisions in relation to mandatory reporting of child abuse and in relation to placing a legal obligation on organisations providing services to children to prepare and publish a Child Safeguarding Statement.
The Children First legislation has significance for all clubs, and as a means of assisting clubs with regard to the drafting of a Child Safeguarding Policy, Cricket Leinster has decided to host a second information evening on Thursday 8th February 2018 from 7.00pm to 9.30pm in The Hills Cricket Club, Skerries, County Dublin - our thanks to Martin Russell & team for agreeing to host this important session.
This session will be of particular importance to Children’s Officers, and all clubs are invited to send at least one representative to this event, especially those clubs who didn't make the first session on 9th January last.
As before, the format will consist of a short presentation by Jim Bennett, who is very experienced in this area followed by an open Question & Answer Session and a workshop aimed at assisting clubs to draft a Child Safeguarding Policy.
Please respond by e-mail to Philip Smith (philip.smith@cricketleinster.ie) if you would like to reserve a place at this important session.
