Cricket Leinster is delighted to announce the launch of an exciting new underage pathway competition which will provide young club players with the opportunity to play Representative cricket for their District. The competition will be played between four teams: Dublin University, Fingal, Dublin City and South Dublin & Midlands.
We are also pleased to have BUAKIT Sportswear on-board as official sponsors of the competition, including the provision of new regionally focussed playing kit for each of the district teams.
This competition will act as a pathway between club cricket and the Leinster Lightning/Bolts set up. As a result of this Nigel Jones as Leinster Head Coach & Pathway Manager will oversee the competition.
COMPETITION STRUCTURE
Matches will be played in the 50 over format, with the four teams competing in a round-robin series.
Matches will be played using similar regulations to IP/Future Series including coloured clothing and white cricket balls. The team that tops the table with the most points will win the title and be awarded the U23 District Cup – which is being called the Siggins Trophy in recognition of Ger Siggins and his continued contribution to cricket in Leinster.

This should be a great addition to the cricket programme as well as a brilliant opportunity for players to make a name for themselves. Leinster Lightning Head Coach & Pathway Manager Nigel Jones summed up the opportunity as follows:
“This is a brilliant chance for young cricketers to make a name for themselves in a highly competitive environment, in a best vs best format. There’s no doubt that this new competition will bring exciting matchups and performances throughout and it’s particularly good to see Dublin University CC involved with their three fixtures all being hosted at their iconic College Park grounds”.
