Clontarf a dominant force in the 80 & 90's have undergone some changes in last few years, and like most other cricket clubs they've seen a lot of players come and go. Caught between a rock and a hard place, with decisions of whether to play their underage kids against division 1 players, with the risk of losing players or them getting hurt, Clontarf were forced to pull out of division 1 last summer.
This summer they're back, and having a huge push on trying to regain some structure into their Ladies section. Sasha Maloney another girl from Tasmania will take on a coach/PRO role, looking to attract some new players. With Clontarf being in division 2 Sasha cannot play, but she will play a influential part in bringing on Clontarf's underage players. Laura Erskine will captain this side, and Robert (Bobbo) Forrest will coach them. On speaking to Laura Cullen recently, she informed me that "Clontarf ladies cricket have gone through a bit of a bad patch, but they're looking to regroup and build up a stronger squad."
Clontarf will start training on the 20th of April. Training times include - Mondays & Thursdays 6.30 - 8.30 pm.
If you live near by or fancy trying out a new sport pop along on Monday the 20th of April and try out Cricket, great location and club!
