What an exciting couple of years its been for newly developing club, Finglas CC.
The club started back in 2015 with only a handful of members who practiced in Poppintree Sports Centre once a week. Now in 2020, it boasts an impressive 42 junior members and 43 adult members. Within the club there are two junior teams that compete at Under 13 and Under 15 level in both league and cups. They also have a team in the softball competition. Their adult section now have two teams that will compete in Division 11 and 16.
The Junior teams practice and play their games in Albert College Park, Dublin 9, where an artificial mat was laid in 2016. Whilst this ground is too small for Adult games, the club are acquiring an artificial mat to be laid in Poppintree Park to play all home games.
The club has endured outstanding success since 2015. The Finglas 1st XI debuted its league campaign in 2018 and are very proud of their achievements to date. In 2018, they were runners-up in both Division 15 and the Minor cup. They were crowned champions of Division-14 in 2019 with an all win record and duly promoted to Division 11 for 2020. The club were also runners-up in the Russell Court Cup in 2019.

Club president Romy Mathew had this to say on the clubs progress “We are delighted how far the club has come in the last couple of years. We are growing and attaining new members year on year. We are still very much developing and would like to acknowledge and thank Dublin City Council for their ongoing support and to Cricket Leinster for their help and guidance.”
Cricket Leinster would also like to acknowledge the assistance and support of Dublin City Council. The council has played a crucial role in supporting new clubs and cricket in the province and Finglas Cricket Club is a fine example of this.
