Each week Paul Reynolds produces his rankings of the top clubs in Ireland based on how well their 1st XIs are doing in matches between each other. It is a highly sophisticated model applying the same methodology that the ICC uses to grade countries in the different formats of the game.
But what of the performance of clubs down the leagues. Using a much less sophisticated model and limiting it only to Open Competitions [for the moment] the results in completed league and cup matches for the different clubs in the first month of the season are set out below.
Without any effort at sophistication the table simply shows the ratio of wins to losses for completed games [with scorecards submitted]. Five clubs standout as having made an excellent start to the season Lucan, YMCA, Sandyford, Merrion and Wicklow with ratios of wins to losses of between 5/1 to 3/1.
