As outlined in recent communications, Cricket Leinster will be completing a full review of all competition structures and formats (across Open, Women’s & Youth) which will commence shortly.
It is envisaged that any changes arising will be implemented from the 2023 season onwards.
This review process will involve consultation with all players (via survey), all clubs (via survey & face to face workshops) in addition to an assessment of facilities (both playing and non-playing).
As an example of what needs to be considered, it is clear that many grounds are at or close to maximum capacity usage and this is placing an undue strain on grounds people, on the overall fixture-making process and on our ability to satisfy all requirements.
The refreshed Cricket Leinster Strategy will also be published shortly and will be a key input into this competition review process.
We are also happy to receive ideas, suggestions or proposals from within the cricket community, all of which will be included for consideration.
Our overall objective is to design a programme for 2023 and beyond which enjoys widespread support across Open, Women’s and Youth and which aligns with our strategic objectives.
A working group will be established shortly to oversee this work with any and all changes ultimately approved by the CL Board.
