The one thing that cause more consternation and confusion in cricket clubs across the province is "Starrings" - the method by which all players in a club are ranked, so that everyone knows which teams they can play for.
This submission of scorecards in 2011 meant that the OCC could now monitor players across the province, leading to a fairer system for all.
We will be changing a few things in 2012, with the aim of making the whole starring system simpler and fairer. The main change has been to abolish the cup starrings - from now on there will be one starring list per club, which will serve all league, cup and mid-week cup matches.
We are now also in a position to properly regulate the "regular player" rule. A regulation has always existed whereby a player must regularly play throughout the season - not only in the monthly starring periods, but also in rolling four week periods. We are now in a position to analyise all 2000 players in the Open Comps, and so will be looking at club's starring list on a week by week basis.
A guide to the 2012 starrings has been produced, and can be read on the website here
