Something of a quite week across the land this week, with upsets thin on the ground. Of the ten Senior Cup quarter finals that were played, nine went to the favourites in each match (although Eglinton only scraped home by 1 wicket against Drummond)
Performance of the week though went to Cork County, who beat Merrion in The Mardyke, and went up four places to 22nd as a result. The Munster club's joy was matched by Merrion's misery, and they dropped from 3rd to 5th, to be replaced by the side they conquered in the Irish Senior Cup, YMCA - who won well against Malahide.
The other big movers of the week were NCU Premier league side Ballymena, who beat Lisburn and went up five places as a result. Ballymena have had a tough time in recent years, bumping a long at the bottom of the Premier League, but just managing to avoid relegation each year. Hence their ranking looks a little harsh - they are currently the 10th ranked NCU side, despite being 6th in the nascent Premier League table.
Top level league action makes a welcome return this weekend, with the ties to look out for being in Leinster - YM (3) at home to Clontarf (1), in the North West - Donemana (11) against Bready (18) and in the NCU - CIYMS (14) at home to Instonians (2) and North Down (12) at home to CSN (6)
