Laois County Cricket Club are running a one-day coaching camp on Friday, August 19th from 10am to 4pm. Venue: Laois Cricket Ground, Tougher, Portlaoise. The day is aimed at young cricketers (boys and girls) aged 8-14 from the midland clubs. The day will be headed up by Allan Eastwood (Senior Ireland International) and Jono Hickey (New Zealand U’19 International). Allan Eastwood of Pembroke Cricket club has represented Ireland three times in 2010 and was also a reserve for the 2011 World Cup. Allan is a Level 2 coach and has assisted Cricket Ireland performance coaches Brian O’Rourke and Nigel Pyne with winter coaching of Leinster u’11, u’13 and u’15 boys and girls squads. Allan has been running sessions for Laois Cricket Club on a regular basis this summer. Jono Hickey is the Pembroke club professional and plays with Northern Districts ‘A’ team in New Zealand. Jono represented New Zealand in the 2010 U’19 World Cup. He has much coaching experience with New Zealand under-age teams and holds a Cricket New Zealand Level 2 coaching certificate. This is a perfect opportunity to avail of some first class coaching before the junior players return to school. The coaches will be concentrating on skill development and training routines that the players can practice during the closed season. As we expect large interest in such an opportunity, numbers will be strictly limited to 30 players and places will be reserved on a first come basis only. Cost per person is only €20.00 including lunch for six hours of intensive coaching from two of the countries best coaches.
