Has your club thought about starting a women’s team but you're not sure your club is ready to enter competitive leagues yet? Do you have adult beginners who would prefer to play socially rather than competitively? Not sure you have players who could commit to a full season of fixtures but would like to organise a few friendly games in the summer? If you answered yes to any of the questions above, then Simply Social is for you!
Interest in women’s and girls’ sports are have been growing steadily for a number of years now, and Cricket Leinster wants to cater for all ability and interest levels in our province. There is a lack of friendly cricket for women and this is something we want to rectify.
Simply social will admit any team to join its ranks as long as the team has mostly beginners and the players are over 16. Teams will play pairs cricket with rules that emphasise inclusivity, fun and the social element of the game. This competition can help you get a women’s team off the ground, or it can help you reintroduce cricket to players who have not played in years.
Whatever the circumstances are in your club, Simply Social will try to cater for it.
What do you have to do next? Register your interest with our Women and Girls’ Officer, Isobel Joyce, and she will contact you about the competition. If you’re not sure it’s the right thing for you, please do get in touch and we will help in any way that we can.
