At the Cricket Leinster AGM last evening, there were a number of key developments:
The audited accounts for 2018 were approved confirming our strong financial position.
The work of volunteers on the Finance side was acknowledged in particular David Brennan (Honorary Treasurer) and Ed Wyeth (who has prepared the monthly and year-end management accounts in addition to overseeing our budgetary processes).
Peter Thew was confirmed as President for 2019/20 and will oversee the Centenary year as part of his term of office.
Peter succeeds Derek Dockrell who has completed a very successful term of office as President since appointment in late 2016 - Derek’s contribution has been immense and was warmly acknowledged by all who attended the meeting.
Stella Downes (Clontarf CC) was elected to the position of President Elect and will become the first female President of Cricket Leinster in 2020/21.
There were two new Directors elected to the Board - Kenny Egan (Clondalkin CC) and Alan Lewis (YMCA CC).
Peter Lacy was confirmed as the new Independent Director succeeding John Heavey who was confirmed as the new Chair of Cricket Leinster.
John succeeds Eddie Lewis who has successfully completed his term of office as Chair of the Board having overseen our transition to the new governance structure, incorporation of the company and the establishment of our new CL Strategy (2019-21).
Eddie’s contribution was also warmly acknowledged and he will continue to provide ongoing input to Cricket in Leinster leveraging his reporting, analytical and IT skills and his depth of knowledge.
Paul Reynolds was elected to the Board as Company Secretary in succession to Henry Tighe who retired from the Board having served with great distinction. Henry will continue to lead all Accreditation matters for Cricket Leinster through his ongoing participation on the Cricket Committee.
Mark Jones also becomes a Board Director in his capacity as the new Chair of Cricket.
The next major event in our calendar is the Centenary Day celebration evening at the Central Hotel, Exchequer Street, Dublin 2 on this Sunday, 14th April 2019, from 7.30pm - all welcome.
