As you probably know, all remaining provisions of the Children First Act 2015 commenced today (11th December 2017).
These include the provisions in relation to mandatory reporting of child abuse and in relation to placing a legal obligation on organisations providing services to children to prepare and publish a Child Safeguarding Statement.
The Children First legislation has significance for all clubs, and as a means of assisting clubs with regard to the drafting of a Child Safeguarding Policy, Cricket Leinster has decided to host an information evening on Tuesday 9th January 2018 from 7.00pm to 9.30pm in the Talbot Hotel, Stillorgan Road (off N11).
This session will be of particular importance to Children’s Officers, and all clubs are invited to send at least one representative to this event.
The format will consist of a short presentation by Jim Bennett, who is very experienced in this area followed by an open Question & Answer Session and a workshop aimed at assisting clubs to draft a Child Safeguarding Policy.
Please respond by e-mail to Philip Smith (philip.smith@cricketleinster.ie) if you would like to reserve a place at this important session.
