Cricket Leinster were delighted to team up with the Little Seeds Arch Club in Dublin 15 to deliver a four week programme to introduce over 20 young people with autism to the sport of cricket.
Over the course of four Monday's in October, young people from the club with assistance from local coach Yash Balasubramanium, were introduced to key cricket skills and games as well as playing Table Cricket for the first time.
Ger Kenny, the lead of the group has commented on the success of the four week programme:
"Killian & Yash did a four week programme teaching our Autistic teens and young adults how to play indoor cricket and table cricket. Our members had never played the sport before so they were unsure as to what to expect. Killian and Yash showed them how to bat, score and the rules of table cricket and by the end of the first week our members started to relax into the game. They really enjoyed it and looked forward to playing the sport each week."
Killian Molloy, the coordinator for the Cricket4All project in Fingal added that:
"It is really encouraging to see so many people keen to give cricket a go for the first time and great to see so many have a positive first experience of the sport. It is also brilliant to have built such good connections with fantastic community groups such as the Little Seeds Arch Club."
The group have been invited to the 2023 Fingal Cricket4All Blitz to be held next month in North County, the flagship event of the Cricket4All project in Fingal.
