A CL Teacher Training event took place at King's Hospital School uniting educators from schools across Leinster to enhance their cricket coaching skills ahead of the outdoor Leinster secondary schools cricket competitions starting after Easter. Nine teachers participated in the in-person part of this course, while a total of 20 teachers from 13 schools, including those present, are set to complete the newly introduced e-learning modules.
Teacher training in cricket not only equips educators with the technical skills needed to deliver effective coaching but also fosters a deeper understanding of the value of cricket activity in students' lives. This initiative aims to promote sustainable cricket development within schools, whilst encouraging students to engage in cricket and develop teamwork, discipline and resilience.
Thanks to King's Hospital for hosting the event and to Caoilfhionn Rowan (CL Secondary School Girls Adminstrator) for organising the course. The course was delivered by Naomi Scott-Hayward with support from Eimear Richardson.
All teachers across Leinster are encouraged to link in with their local cricket development officers and clubs to help achieve increased school-to-club links.
In response to strong interest, the registration deadline for the e-learning has been extended to Monday next (24th) at 12noon.

This course will focus on the ‘what’ of the sports – the basic skills and how the sports are played – as opposed to the ‘how’, which in our world means ‘coaching’ (in your school
world, teaching).
As trained teachers, we know you will understand how to lead and manage groups, ask questions, give feedback, and generally create excellent learning environments.
Introduction
The Teaching Cricket & Hockey course aims to provide you with a basic understanding of:
The Skills of Cricket & Hockey
How to deliver cricket- and hockey-based activities
Small-sided games for cricket & hockey

How hockey and cricket might be applied in both physical education and other curriculum areas
This course is aimed at all teachers, primary and secondary. It is ONLY suitable for teachers, not club coaches.
