The Schools Senior Final is always a fantastic day in the cricketing calendar, and today is set to be no different with the weather set fair for this afternoon’s final between serial winners CUS from Leeson Street, and Rathfarnham school St Columbas who have already managed their best campaign for several years.
Columbas’ side is dominated by Merrion club players, including their captain Marco Trolese, the Dijkstra brothers Isaac and Sebastien, the latter of whom made his 1st XI club debut just a couple of weeks ago, and semi-final hero Ethan Farley who sent the side through to the final with a boundary off the final ball against Blackrock College.
YMCA are the other club represented in the shape of Harry St Leger, and the side is coached by Merrion man Grant Glutz along with Niall Butler.

CUS meanwhile boast a side full of players who have won this competition already last season, and a couple who were involved as far back as their win in the 2019 campaign (with this competition not taking place in 2020 or 2021). They are captained by Malahide’s Oliver Manks, with his club-mate Jack Grant behind the stumps the vice-captain.
Clontarf are big contributors to this side, with Liam Gilhooly, Ethan Marshall and Luke Thomson all current members of the club’s 1st XI, whilst they are joined in today’s squad by Niall Cox and Harry Irving. Rush, Leinster and Phoenix round off the clubs represented in the Leeson Street side’s squad for this afternoon’s final.
