Leinster Coaches’ Association and Cricket Ireland Coaches’ Association Forum
As we all know, coaches are the lifeblood of your club. These are the many people who give up their time to come and help bring on the young players coming through the ranks or try to keep the older-heads in check to let them know that it’s their “last 6 and they need 14 to win”! In Cricket Leinster and Cricket Ireland, we understand the importance of these people and are keen to give them an opportunity to come and speak to us about their needs and how we can best support them moving forward.
As you may know, Cricket Ireland has recently appointed Michael Hingston to the role of Coach Development Manager for Cricket Ireland. Michael has worked for Cricket Ireland for the past 5 years, in his role as Active Communities Coach for Antrim and Newtownabbey, Cricket Ireland Under 13 Lead Coach and also a Cricket Ireland and ECB Tutor and has helped in the education and development of many coaches from all over Ireland.
Since he started in role in August of this year, he has been engaging with and working alongside the Leinster Coaches Association (LCA) to help promote and support the work that the LCA are doing. He has undertaken several projects with them - from helping to tutor on the recent Welcome to Coaching Course at Kings Hospital School, to organising the Power Hitting Workshops at North County for coaches from all over Ireland to attend, to offering shadowing opportunities for coaches to come along to Cricket Ireland sessions and finally undertaking Level 2 assessments for candidates on recent courses. He is keen to engage further and offer an opportunity for all cricket coaches to come in to find out a bit more information on what the LCA and Cricket Ireland Coaches Association are all about. Therefore we are organising a joint Leinter and Cricket Ireland Coaches’ Association Forum to allow coaches to share ideas, best practice and hopefully get some help towards their own development.
