It was a 5 wicket victory for Dublin City in this afternoon’s first fixture in College Park, as a half-century from David Vincent wasn’t enough to propel Dublin University to a winning total.
Having won the toss home skipper Gavin Hoey decided to make first use of a slow College Park wicket, and Vincent was the only man in the top 6 who could consistently find himself able to get the pace of the wicket enough to turn over the strike.
After a pair of early wickets for Cillian McDonnell were backed up with one for each of Andy Doheny and Danny Forkin, Dublin University were on the back foot and needed to rebuild, thankfully from their point of view a 50 partnership between Vincent and Mikey O’Reilly did just that. Seeing them eventually reach a total of 107/7 in their 20 overs.
Ashil Prakash fell early in the chase bowled by O’Reilly for just 4, with a 64 run partnership between Swapnil Modgil and Hedayat Khogiani brought the score to 73 before the fall of the next wicket. Two quick wickets for Jamie Forbes saw Modgil and Philippe le Roux dismissed, before Will Barker dismissed Khogiani for 41.
Pembroke men Dan Murray (11*) and Noah Smith (9*) however ensured the win was secured without too much drama however, knocking off the final 20 runs to see them to a 6 wicket win.
