In a major announcement and with thanks to former Irish International Ed Joyce, Cricket Leinster is today launching a specific 2018 fund aimed at clubs wishing to enhance their playing facilities. This is distinct from the annual Club Grant Scheme funded by Cricket Ireland and administered by Cricket Leinster – details on this will be announced separately in due course.
The ‘Ed Joyce’ fund has been established from the net proceeds of a specific event hosted by Ed in June 2018 for this purpose and which is also intended to benefit the work of Lords Taverner’s Ireland and the scholarship scheme for young and aspiring Irish cricket talent (also announced recently by Cricket Ireland).
In terms of the Ed Joyce Club Development Grant Fund, this will be open to applications from clubs which have demonstrated a commitment to establishing a Youth and/or Women’s section as part of their club infrastructure. In particular, applications are encouraged from clubs playing their cricket on Local Authority land and/or with limited facilities.
The amount of grant support made to each club is limited to a maximum of €1000 and a minimum of €250 and it is intended that clubs will apply for funding for projects that improve the standard of their playing facilities.
All applications must be with Philip Smith (philip.smith@cricketleinster.ie) by 5pm on Friday 21st September 2018 with application forms available on request from the Cricket Leinster office.
Decisions will be made by a panel which has been nominated jointly by Ed Joyce and Cricket Leinster with funds to be disbursed to successful applicants by end October 2018.
This is an exciting development for Cricket in Leinster and we are hugely indebted to Ed Joyce and those who contributed to his inaugural Fundraising Event for making this happen. In particular, we are confident that this fund will deliver material benefits for our new and emerging clubs as they look to enhance and develop their playing environment.
