Following a series of coaching visits to schools in the Fingal area, last week saw four girls’ teams participate in a 6th class cricket blitz at Malahide CC.
The four participating schools were as follows:
The format was ‘Super 8’s’ with everyone getting to bat and bowl.
Congratulations to Milverton NS who managed to win all three of their fixtures.
The event continues Cricket Leinster’s current drive to attract more schoolgirls to the game and comes just after a very successful training camp held in Cape Town, South Africa over the Easter period attended by 18 girls from both Transition and 5th years.
Helen Meeley, sports co-ordinator at St Patrick’s NS in Diswellstown has been delighted with the recent introduction of cricket activities for the girls at her school.
‘We have been receiving very well delivered cricket coaching sessions within our schoolyard of late. Following the completion of this 6-week programme, the girls participated in a blitz at the international ground in Malahide. It is fantastic that the girls within our school are currently getting these opportunities’.
