We are pleased to advise that the fixtures for the 2020 season are now available to view on the Cricket Leinster Website.
You will see from the fixtures that the competitive season will start on Saturday 18th July and that all fixtures will be T20 only as determined by the Sport Ireland/Cricket Ireland Return-to-Play protocols. We have also been advised that each player is only permitted to play one match per day (irrespective of age group or level) and this has obviously resulted in some compromises in the scheduling of competitions and fixtures.
For this condensed season we have placed a strong emphasis on participation with competition; accordingly there is no promotion or relegation in any competition in the 2020 season.
For OCC competitions, teams have been split into League Cups, with each team playing each other once in a series of round robin matches followed by a Semi Final and Final in mid September. All OCC matches have been fixed for the weekend at this stage.
For Women’s competitions, teams will play each other once or twice, depending on the size of their division, with all matches fixed for midweek dates at this stage.
The OCC competitions will be as follows:
Senior League Cup - sponsored by LHW Financial Planning
Senior 2 Tillain Cup - sponsored by IBI Corporate Finance
Middle Cup - sponsored by LHK Insurance
YM Salver - sponsored by Goldfish Telecom
Whelan Cup - sponsored by SportsHub
Russell Court Trophy - sponsored by Ed Sports
Adamstown Cup - sponsored by Adamstown CC
The Women's competitions are all sponsored by Sprint Coatings Limited.
Youth fixtures are currently being finalised for publication early next week with all such fixtures also being made centrally.
Once all the fixtures are released, clubs will have a chance to request minor alterations to the relevant Competition committee, but at this stage should clubs identify any major errors or omissions in fixtures, they should contact:
opencomps@cricketleinster.ie for OCC
womens@cricketleinster.ie for Women’s
Once all the fixtures are released we will make spreadsheets available to all clubs. If clubs consider any potential changes it is essential that they agree this with the other club and then advise Cricket Leinster immediately. In order to comply with COVID19 protocols it is essential that the central fixture database is up to date at all times.
We would like to thank all clubs for their patience and support as we have worked to confirm player & team numbers to facilitate the optimum structure for this abbreviated season.
As you know, Cricket Ireland has been liaising with the Expert Group at Sport Ireland and expects to publish the Return-to-Play protocols shortly - compliance with these protocols will obviously be mandatory for all clubs participating in CL competitions.
Notwithstanding the abbreviated season, our total fixture programme envisages almost 800 matches which underpins the strength of club cricket in Leinster.
