We ran a participation based U11s programme last year with some winter sessions as well as an Easter camp. The U13, U15 and U17s programme was more comprehensive. They are all summarised here in the full report. I just want to draw your attention to the two new events we included in the programme this year.
The first was a development trip open to all 4th and 5th year girls. We saw 18 girls travel to South Africa for a training camp in Cape Town. You can read more about it from an article Jenny Sparrow, one of the players, wrote on the website, or in my full report below.
The second was the FBL - Fifty Ball League. There was a strong level of interest from the clubs for a girls version of the Boys District Cup Competitions, so we created 4 teams from our U13 Girls training list (players nominated for Leinster Winter sessions by the clubs). We used the four districts, just like the boys: Fingal, South Dublin, Dublin City and Dun Laoghaire Rathdown. However, we based the format on the new Hundred Ball League (HBL) which Rob and Sue O'Connor have created and rolled out with the support of Cricket Leinster.
