Cricket Leinster can today confirm the draw for the group stage of the Leinster Senior League Cup which is sponsored this season by SportsHub.
The competition in it’s current format has only been run since 2019, with The Hills CC running out convincing winners in a home final against Phoenix thanks mainly to Naseer Shoukat’s remarkable 7/20. Whilst last year it was played out in T20 format where YMCA CC came out victorious against Railway Union in the competition’s final, on their way to winning the All-Ireland T20 for the curtailed season.
The draw has seen the last two winners drawn in opposite groups, with YMCA joined in Group A by Premier League sides Leinster, 2019 Alan Murray Cup victors Malahide and 2019 runners-up Phoenix, along with last year’s runners-up Railway Union who are accompanied by their Championship counterparts, Balbriggan, Cork County and Dublin University.
Group B therefore contains 2019 winners The Hills, who are joined from their division by Premier League 2019 champions Pembroke, Premier League 2019 runners-up Merrion and Championship holders Clontarf, rounded off by North County, Division 4 winners of 2019 North Kildare, Rush and Terenure.
