Cricket Leinster is delighted to announce the dates and venues for this season’s HBL competition. The return of the popular HBL tournament was announced last week, and over 30 women and girls have already registered. Registration closes on May 16th, so make sure to get your name on the list between now and then. You can register here.
This year’s game days will take place in Ringcommons CC (July 4th), Leinster CC (July 11th) and Rush CC (August 22nd). We would like to thank these clubs for offering to host, and we hope the day’s cricket can be used to encourage girls to take up the sport in those areas.
The 2021 edition of the Hundred Blast League will see a minimum of 45 female players, out of the U15 age category and under twenty-one compete in a nine-match series over three competitive days this summer.
Cricket Leinster has been proactive in identifying and pushing on with some important projects targeting the Women’s game, including a major focus on growth in girls/women’s cricket, and to identify multiple pathways for youth players to feed into Super Series squads.
Registered players from the 2021 season who meet this age criteria have been identified and contacted to register interest. It was agreed to look at players not currently catered for in the Irish set-up, so players in this age category already training with the performance squad and national academy will be excluded.
Cricket Leinster will announce the squads in the coming weeks.
