Cricket Leinster is delighted to announce that the CL Women’s Committee has nominated Amy Hunter as the winner of the Most Improved Player award for the 2020 season.
This is the second individual gong which the Malahide CC teenager will be collecting for the 2020 season, having already won the Crawford Cup for batting, and only just missed out on the Dawson Cup on the basis of a tie-breaker with Hannah Pasley of Clontarf.
Hunter managed a fine haul of 269 runs at an average of 89.67 in five innings across the Sprint Coatings Women’s Division 1 season. Compared with the 2019 season, Hunter scored more than double her runs tally in the T20 competition, as well as doubling her average, and number of half-centuries, all while playing the exact same number of games, with the same number of not-out innings attributed to her in both seasons.
Alongside her batting exploits she took up the keeping duties full-time for the first time, having shared them the previous season with Malahide skipper Caoimhe McCann. This was obviously a key factor in her jump from 5th on the keeping standings in 2019, to joint top in 2020.
Having also managed to land herself into 5th place in the all-rounder standings given the above performances, Hunter put herself forward as the outstanding candidate to be awarded the Most Improved Player award.
Congratulations from all at Cricket Leinster to Amy on being awarded the Most Improved Player for the Sprint Coatings Women’s Competitions for the 2020 season.
