Round 8 of the IBI Corporate Finance sponsored Cricket Leinster Premier League and Championship was fought out this afternoon, as the top two sides in the Premier League were both toppled, whilst Railway Union extended their lead at the top of the second tier.
CLONTARF VS MERRION
In Castle Avenue, David Vincent’s maiden senior century, accompanied by a fine 84 from PJ Moor saw Clontarf to a score of 268/6 from their 50 overs. In reply Michael Lewis’ 31 was the top score in the Merrion reply of 211 all out inside the final over, David Delany’s 3/37 was the pick of the bowlers, with two apiece for Ruan Cronje and Paul Ryan the pick of the spinners for the home side in a 57 run victory.
PEMBROKE VS YMCA
The home side batted first in Sydney Parade and thanks to half centuries from Diarmaid Tucker and Danny Hogan, as well as 45 from skipper Theo Lawson, made their way to 273/5 in their 50 overs, Mikey O’Reilly the pick of the visiting bowlers taking 3/52 from his 10 overs. In response, three wickets for each of Joe Prendergast and Paul Lawson, as well as two for Piyush Sharma saw Pembroke to a 119 run victory inside the 40th over.
PHOENIX VS THE HILLS
In the Phoenix Park, The Hills batted first and Dylan Blignaut’s 38 was the top score as Ruaidhri Smith took 4/11 on his debut for the home side, along with two wickets for each of Ben White and Dev Ranolia rolled the away side over for 131 inside 46 overs. In reply, Tyrone Kane’s 43 was the only resistance as Tomas Rooney-Murphy’s five wicket haul was the star performance as The Hills secured a 28 run win.
MALAHIDE VS BALBRIGGAN
There was a 15 run DLS victory for Malahide as they bowled Balbriggan out for 136 in the penultimate over thanks to Peter Saville’s 3/22 along with a brace of wickets for Cameron Shoebridge, Dylan Lues top scoring for the away side with 46. In response, Ryan Hackney’s unbeaten 43 had seen Malahide to 98/3 inside 36 overs before the rain intervened with the home side ahead on DLS.
TERENURE VS RAILWAY UNION
In Terenure, the visitors batted first and 53 from Hashir Sultan, along with 37 from Mark Canniffe saw them make 208 all out in the second last over of the innings, three wickets for Raghav Grover and Bhavic Tukrel, supported by an excellent opening spell of 1/33 by Dylan Cleary were the pick of the bowling efforts for the home side. In response, only Niqash Ali’s 33 provided much for Terenure, as Sean O’Brien and Stuart de Klerk both took three wickets as Railway ran out 41 run winners.
RUSH VS CORK HARLEQUINS
Cian Egerton’s 33 was the pick of the efforts for Harlequins as they could muster just 127 against Rush, as Daniel Coffey and Allan Eastwood both took three wickets. In the reply Llew Johnson made 96 from just 49 balls in a dominant innings as the home side ran out 8 wicket winners off just 18 overs.
NORTH COUNTY VS LEINSTER
Leinster batted first and half centuries for Joey Carroll, Bilal Azhar and Tristen de Beer saw them to a decent total of 193/9 in their 50 overs, Usman Azhar took 4 wickets, with Abdul Ghaffar chipping in with 3/31. In response, County started well making their way to 75/0, however three wickets for Mark Tonge, along with one for each of Carroll and Devan Keenan pushed Leinster to a 17 run win on DLS.
