PREMIER LEAGUE – WINS FOR CLONTARF, MALAHIDE, YMCA & BALBRIGGAN
Balbriggan vs Leinster
Leinster 242/10 off 46.4 overs (Monil Patel 48, Saqib Bahadur 46, Michael Hogan 40, Kashif Ali 6-52, Farooq Nasr 2-37, Dylan Lues 1-42)
Balbriggan 243-9 off 45.4 overs (Christopher De Freitas 88, Ghanim Dara 40, Matthew Pollard 35, Peter Francis 3-30, Bilal Azhar 1-48, Joey Carroll 1-52, Devender Ranolia 1-29, Tristen de Beer 2-11)
Balbriggan win by 1 wicket
Leinster decided to bat first and would have been happy with their start as the top order all got started. But none of them were able to kick on and regular wicket taking by Balbirggan, in particular a magnificent 6-52 for Kashif Ali saw Leinster all out for 242 with overs unused.
In reply Balbriggan opener Ghanim Dara scored 40 and Chris de Freitas anchored the innings with 88. The required run rate was never an issue for the home team as they always had a big shot when needed. Leinster however kept taking wickets, Peter Francis taking 3-30 from an excellent 10 overs. De Freitas was the 8th wicket to fall with 21 still needed, Eoin Birch was on a mission to get them single handedly. When he was run out trying to keep the strike the last pair needed 14 off 8 overs.
Clontarf vs Merrion
Merrion 150 all out off 35.3 overs (Max Sorensen 27, Muhammed Sinan 24, David Delany 4-21, Fionn Hand 3-28, David Vincent 1-21, Ruan Cronje 1-31, Cillian McDonnell 1-8)
Clontarf 152-4 off 34.1 overs (David Delany 40, Eoghan Delany 41, Muhammed Sinan 1-33, Sam Harbinson 1-20, Max Sorenson 1-29, Niranjan Shankar 1-11)
Clontarf won by 6 wickets
The International fast bowling pair of David Delany and Fionn Hand put Merrion to the sword, ripping through their top order for a combined 7-49. Later order runs from Sinan (24) and Sorenson (27), together with 36 extras gave Merrion a total they could consider defending.
However the home team, and that man David Delany, had other ideas. Firstly Eoghan Delany set the benchmark with 41 from the opening spot, but when David came to the wicket the match was only heading one way. With 40 unbeaten runs, including 3 fours and a six, he let the Bulls across the line with 15 overs to spare.
YMCA vs The Hills
YMCA 245 all out in 50 overs (Adam Rosslee 57, Mikey O’Reilly 49, Rory Anders 40, Tim Tector 39, Jonathan Tall 3-66, Matthew Weldon 2-28, Sean McNicholl 2-60)
The Hills 111 all out in 34.2 overs (Cormac Mcloughlin-Gavin 19, Mikey O’Reilly 4-27, Ashley Burton 2-25, Tim Tector 2-11, Reuben Wilson 1-23, Olly Reilly 1-13)
YMCA won by 134 runs
Despite several batters getting started and settled YMCA were unable to put together a significant partnership. Runs from Tector and Rosslee were boosted by later order runs from Anders and O’Reilly. Best of the bowlers was Jonathan Tall, with McNicholl, Weldon and Laegsgaard also having success.
In reply Mikey O’Reilly took out The Hills’ top order in a wonderful spell of 4/27 off 10 overs. None of the The Hills batsman was able to get settled and create a platform to trouble the target. Further wickets from Burton, Tim Tector and Olly Reilly were decisive and The Hills were all out for 111.
A significant win for YMCA, giving them full bonus points.
Malahide vs Railway Union
Malahide 263 all out in 48.2 overs (Fintan McAllister 69, Hunter Kindley 54, Sean O’Brien 3-39, Alan Joseph Mathew 2-44, Brandon Kruger 2-63, Fakhar Zaman 2-49, Hamza Maan 1-27)
Railway Union 236 all out off 48.5 overs (Ashil Prakash 72, Punya Mehra 36, Kenny Carroll 30, Riley Mudford 29, Kelvin Donnelly 2-52, Michael Frost 2-46, James Newland 3-44, Hunter Kindley 1-46, Andrew Sheridan 1-20, Cameron Shoebridge 1-18)
Malahide won by 27 runs
A fine all round bowling performance from Railway saw 5 different wicket takers led by Sean O’Brien with 3-39. For Malahide Hunter Kindley (54) was solid at the top of the order and evergreen Fintan McAllister made a brilliant 69 in the middle order to get Malahide to a potentially defendable 263.
However Malahide went one better and all six of their bowlers took at least one wicket. This team effort was let by Donnelly and Frost and meant that Railway couldn’t capitalise on a fine start by Ashil Prakash (72). At 181-2 Railway would have felt confident but none of their middle and late order batters could create a partnership. They were never very far from the run rate required but eventually ran out of wickets, all out for 236, 27 runs short.

Rush won by 9 runs
Rush chose to bat first on what turned out to be a bowlers day. Oliver Hald took 4-36 with no Rush batter able to kick on from their start. Johnson (31), Waseem (30) and Mcgee (32) would have been happiest with their efforts to get Rush to 153.
If Phoenix thought that would be comfortably achievable they hadn’t considered Jarred Barnes who bowled 10 aggressive overs for a return of 3-38. With wickets from all the bowlers, none of the Phoenix batters could get set and they were dismissed for 144, 9 runs short.
North County v Pembroke
North County 157 all out off 40.1 overs (Eddie Richardson 44, Niall McGovern 30, Luke Whelan 25, Fiachra Tucker 5-7, Gavin Hoey 3-27, Nick Stapleton 1-34, Paul Lawson 1-26)
Pembroke 158/2 off 32.1 overs (Nick Stapleton 70*, Theo Lawson 61*, Eddie Richardson 1-37, Abdul Ghaffar 1-28)
Pembroke won by 8 wickets
A stunning 5 wicket haul from Fiachra Tucker was the key for Pembroke as they bowled North County out for a below par 157. With wickets from Hoey, Stapleton and Lawson the North County lower order was dispatched promptly to allow the Sydney Parade team the upper hand between innings.
In reply there was a masterclass from Nick Stapleton (70*) and Theo Lawson (61*) to preserve wickets and take the victory with 18 overs to spare.
Pembroke continue their strong start to the Championship as they seek return to the Premier League.
