A full complement of three fixtures took place this afternoon in the IBI Corporate Finance Premier League, with some sides fortunes completely changing since last weekend.
One such side was Leinster, who having began the season with the biggest total in the league last weekend, could manage just 112 all out in 36 overs this time around. Reuben Wilson accounted for Matthew Vercoe-Curtis first ball, and followed up with the dismissals of Bilal Azhar and Monil Patel. Joey Carroll was the only form of resistance making 39 off 61 balls, before Cillian McDonnell’s 3/28 ripped through Leinster’s middle order. The home side eventually finishing 112 all out, with Wilson the pick of the bowlers taking 4/22. Clontarf’s chase was rocky to begin with, losing both openers, David Vincent and skipper Eoghan Delany early in the piece. However Mitchell Thompson and John McNally steadied the ship, and eventually cruised to an 8 wicket win with over half the innings to spare.
Meanwhile in the Phoenix Park, Malahide batted first and once again Adam Doyle was their first line of defence, making 59 from 85 balls, before being Ben White’s first victim. White’s spell continued, dismissing Mohit Sane, Andy Sheridan and Aaron Doyle as he finished with 4/35 and the clear pick of the bowlers. Amish Sidhu took 2/22 and Jack Lalor 2/20 as the home side were well on top, knocking Malahide over for 175 inside 45 overs. The chase was anchored by Johit Munjal who made 41 from 52 deliveries, before Jack Lalor and Tyrone Kane came together with the score on 112, the pair added 37 before both fell in consecutive deliveries, debutant Lalor rounding off a nice debut finishing on 61. Phoenix eventually running out 4 wicket winners with 15 overs to spare.
Finally, in Anglesea Road, a fantastic century from Stephen Doheny led Merrion to 313/8. Doheny was supported by half-centuries from Swapnil Modgil, with whom he shared a partnership of 138, and John Anderson with whom there was a partnership of 89. A good fight back was led by Dylan Lues who took 3/65, and Sebastien De Oliveira taking 2/47 as Merrion had at one point looked as though they may have been on their way to an even bigger total! A superb opening spell from Max Sorensen and Mikey O’Reilly reduced Balbriggan to 10/3, however a counter-attack was led by Greg Ford (32) and Cameron Rowe, before another burst by Sam Harbinson and O’Reilly took the score to 79/6. Harbinson then dismissed Rowe for 57 and with that, broke Balbriggan’s chances of salvaging anything from the game, leaving Danny Forkin’s 3/7 to mop up their tail and secure a 174 run victory for Merrion.
