As we enter the last few weeks of the season, it is timely to review where we stand on individual performances in respect of the various top-level Open Competition Cups.
Marchant Cup (Batting in Premier League)
As can be seen, David Delany (Clontarf CC) is in a strong position to secure this Award.
Bruton Cup (Batting in the Championship
The stand-out performer here so far has been Joey Carroll (Leinster) followed by his LCC team-mate, Saqib Bahadur.
O’Grady Cup (Bowling in Premier League)
There is intense competition for this individual trophy with a number of bowlers well placed going into the final three rounds of fixtures.
Clarke Cup (Bowling in the Championship)
It is a similar picture in the Championship with just 0.27 separating the average of the top 3 performers in Alan Mathew (Railway Union), Abdul Sattar (North Kildare) and Bilal Azhar (Leinster).
Hopkins Cup (Wicket-Keeping in Premier League)
This trophy is definitely still up for grabs with a full three rounds of fixtures still to play – leading the pack is Mark Donegan (The Hills), closely followed by Connor Fletcher (Balbriggan) but the numbers are still quite tight overall.
Satchwell Cup (Wicket-Keeping in the Championship)
The stand-out performer so far for this Award is Cormac Hassett (Cork County) with 26 dismissals although there have also been strong performances from a number of other keepers including Michael Cotter and Seamus Lynch who have an aggregate of 32 dismissals for Terenure so far this season.
Solomons Cup (for Premier League Fielding)
As it stands, two Phoenix players (Adam Chester & William Bennett) are the primary contenders for this individual trophy.
Vincent Cup (for Fielding in the Championship)
The leader-board for this individual award shows the Terenure Captain (Donal Lynch) in pole position with 10 catches and then 4 other players in a tie for second place – plenty to play for.
Samuels Cup (Premier League All-Rounder)
Dylan Blignaut (The Hills) has accumulated the most points to-date closely followed by David Delany (Clontarf) and Mark Donegan who keeps wicket for The Hills – too close to call at this stage.
Championship All-Rounder
Two Leinster CC players are in the top 2 positions for this individual award – Bilal Azhar and Joey Carroll with Joey featuring most strongly with bat in hand whilst Bilal has already amassed 35 wickets in addition to over 400 runs.
Third place is occupied by Raghav Grover who has been a cornerstone of Terenure’s team this season.
We will update further on all these awards when the season concludes and we will also shortly be announcing plans for the CL Awards Dinner/Night which promises to be a major occasion in the club calendar over the winter period.
