Cricket has been ahead of most other sports in it's adoption of new technologies, and this can be seen even at club level. Electronic scoreboards are becoming commonplace and with Duckworth Lewis now standard for the top four open competitions, laptops are also becoming standard.
The LCU aims to embrace new technology and has been working with the developers of the iPhone/iPad ap Inningz in order to make it compatible with the new LCU website.
The newest version 1.5 was released today, enabling clubs to use an iPhone/iPad to score the match (in place of a traditional scorebook), and at the press of a button, send the scorecard to the LCU at the end of the match. Before the scorer reaches the bar, the scorecard should be on the LCU website.
The LCU are recommending that away teams should use a traditional scorebook in case of technological problems (although there is nothing to stop them using some form of computer scoring in addition to a scorebook)
The app can be downloaded from the Apple App Store or on iTunes. Any queries, please contact Paul Reynolds
