Cecelia Joyce top scored with a brilliant 36 not out, with Clare Shillington the only wicket to fall after she had forged a 58-run partnership with Joyce, scoring 34 to set Ireland up for the win.
Kim Garth (5*) came in at the end to sweep four runs and seal victory in the 12th over after a brilliant bowling display from Ireland had restricted Scotland to 77-9 in their 20 overs.
Three wickets for just 16 runs from Lucy O’Reilly set the platform for the victory, as well as an excellent 2-8 from Robyn Lewis. Kim Garth, Laura Delany, Ciara Metcalfe and Isobel Joyce all got one wicket each as every Irish bowler got involved.
Chasing a modest but potentially tricky 78 to win in the afternoon heat, Shillington and Joyce set about the task with purpose and speed, scoring quickly and punishing any hint of a bad ball from the Scottish bowlers.
It quickly became apparent that time would not be a factor for Ireland, and when Shillington fell for 34 in the eighth over they were within 20 runs of victory. Cecelia Joyce quickly hit a six to move them even closer, before a calm Garth swept Maqsood for four to start the Irish celebrations.
