In a thrilling final, Ireland Women overcame Bangladesh to win the World Cup Qualifier Trophy off the last ball by two wickets. Chasing 106 to win the innings was tense throughout - wickets falling but the run rate just about being maintained. Opening the innings Cecelia Joyce continued her excellent form in the tournament and top scored with 32. When her sister Isobel was run out the game seemed to be swinging in Bangladesh's favour but in dramatic style Laura Delany [26*] ensured that Ireland were still in touch needing eight runs in the last over. Together with Lucy O'Reilly the total was reached with nothing to spare.
Earlier in the day the Irish bowling once again worked well as a unit with no one giving anything away. The outstanding performance, however, was from Ciara Medcaffe who took all three wickets to fall in her four overs [3/14].
