Cricket Ireland has conducted the First Round draws for the 2022 Irish Senior Cup and National Cup. The competitions are returning after a two year hiatus, with the current holders of both trophies being Cricket Leinster clubs.
Irish Senior Cup – First Round Draw
The Irish Senior Cup is the premier All-Ireland club cricket competition, featuring the leading club sides from across the four main Provincial Unions. The cup is named after Bob Kerr, former Chairman and President of the Irish Cricket Union, who died in 2007. The competition is currently played on a 50-over knock-out format, and played between 28 teams.
Clontarf, YMCA, Leinster & Merrion have all been handed home draws, whilst Malahide and Balbriggan travel to the NCU, The Hills make a visit to the NWCU and finally North Kildare will be taking the M7/M8 to Cork for their first round tie.
Current holders Pembroke have gotten a bye, along with Phoenix who they defeated in the semi-final in the last edition of this competition.

National Cup - First Round Draw
Meanwhile the first round draw for the National Cup has also taken place, Cricket Leinster clubs enjoy a strong history in the competition since it’s inception in 2013, with Railway Union the current holders of the trophy. This is a 40 over competition and the first round also takes place on May 21st.
Rush, Laois and Knockharley have all been handed home draws in the first round, with Terenure traveling to play in the NCU, Civil Service return to the National Cup and North County will participate in it for the first time, both sides are welcomed with trips to the NWCU, whilst Wexford Wanderers’ debut foray into the competition will see them visit Limerick.
