Cricket Leinster is delighted to announce that Jim Bennett of The Hills Cricket Club has been approved by the clubs as President Elect of Cricket Leinster for 2021.
Jim was nominated by Stella Downes, Cricket Leinster President to fulfil this important role and will ultimately succeed Stella as Cricket Leinster President for 2022.
Jim has been one of the most tireless and dedicated volunteers in Leinster and Irish cricket over many years, where his work particularly in the sphere of youth cricket is legendary. He has given exceptional voluntary service to the game in support of The Hills CC, Cricket Leinster, and Cricket Ireland over many years.
His work included overseeing the direction of youth cricket in Ireland, and his efforts played a major part in our success at that level over such a long period. Jim has also provided enduring service at club level with The Hills CC where he has previously served as President.
Jim is a well-respected cricket historian and has recently charted the illustrious history of cricket in his beloved Fingal which has been a bed-rock for cricket in Leinster over so many years.
Most recently, Jim has been synonymous with the Cricket Leinster Child Safeguarding & Inclusion programme where he has delivered countless Child Safeguarding courses at all levels and led the implementation of the Cricket Leinster Inclusion Policy as Chair of the CL Child Safeguarding & Inclusion Committee until end 2019.
Please join with us in congratulating Jim on his appointment as CL President Elect for 2021. Jim is the first person from The Hills CC to hold this office and the first from Fingal since Matt Sheridan of Rush CC almost 10 years ago.
